Welcome to the Advocacy Compass
Empowering families to access the support every child deserves through clarity, compassion, and collaboration.

My Mission
With lived experience and professional insight, I partner with families to navigate and access the support their children need to thrive in school and at home.
Services
Through a thoughtful, supportive approach, I help families feel informed, prepared, and empowered as they navigate educational supports and services.
Intake and Roadmapping

Clarity from the start.
In this 60 minute session, we’ll review your child’s history, needs, and current challenges. Together, we’ll create a clear, personalized roadmap that outlines next steps and identifies areas where your child may need more support.
Shortly after, you’ll receive a written summary and preliminary action plan you can start using right away.
Coaching and Navigation

Understanding the process, step by step.
School services can feel like a maze—but you don’t have to figure it out alone. In one-on-one sessions, I’ll help you:
-
Prepare for school meetings with confidence
-
Understand evaluations, IEPs, and 504 plans
-
Review and interpret documents
-
Develop strategies to advocate effectively
My goal is to help you feel confident and supported as you advocate for your child’s needs and partner with educators to help them thrive at every stage of their learning journey.
Ongoing Support

Consistent and accessible guidance when you need it most.
Advocacy isn’t a one-time event—it’s an ongoing journey. With a monthly support package, you’ll have regular check-ins, document review, and priority access for questions that come up along the way.
Whether it’s preparing for a new meeting, responding to a school’s feedback, or just having a supportive partner to lean on, this service provides steady guidance and reassurance throughout the school year.

About Me
Amanda Banks
As a parent whose children have benefited from a variety of developmental and school supports, I've navigated this path with my own family.
With 20 years in the NYC education system, a B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University, and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College, I offer families professional expertise paired with lived experience.
Whether you need help navigating early intervention, CPSE, IEP supports or just need to talk, I’ve experienced this journey first-hand and have been on both sides of the table. I know the stress, confusion, and exhaustion that come with evaluations, school meetings, and endless paperwork. I also know the hope and relief that comes when you finally feel understood and supported.
My mission is simple: to partner with families so they never feel alone in this process. I bring a unique combination of personal and professional experience to help you feel confident, prepared, and empowered.
Every parent deserves compassion as they take on the monumental task of ensuring their children have access to everything they need to thrive. I’m here to make this feel lighter, clearer, and achievable.
